Singing with Parkinson's
Join us every Thursday morning from 10:30 - noon for a fun & welcoming singing experience. All voices are welcome and no experience is necessary!
We meet at St. Bede's Episcopal Church.
Group singing is one of the things in life where feeling better is pretty much guaranteed. Singing benefits us socially, emotionally, and physically.
For those with Parkinson's Disease, the benefits can be even more profound. Singing together helps decrease inflammation, increase vocal strength, breathing, swallowing control, and general well-being, and has even been shown to increase dopamine levels.
Singers contribute a suggested donation of $10. Caregivers sing free.
The Parkinsingers was formed to give folks living with the disease an opportunity to come together to collectively reap these tremendous benefits.
Parkinsinger sessions include fun & energizing warmups, speech therapy exercises, and, of course, singing well-known and well-loved songs together.
Singing experience is not required.
